Let's play with irregular verbs

Searching the net I run across this nice activity: BATTLESHIP

Now, I am going to introduce it to my students of the first and second year. 

I hope they will have fun and learn the irregular verbs. 

I know the irregular verbs are boring to learn but with a little help and this funny activity,

I'm sure I'll be able to motivate my students and get them to memorize lots of verbs.


BEFORE THE GAME:

Try to learn by heart how many irregular verbs  as you can. You will play in groups of four.

 THE GAME

• The players take turns to make a shot at the opponent by calling out the coordinates of a square. 
• The opponents respond with the verb in the square.
• the players have to say the irregular forms of the verb to know if they have hit or missed the ship.
• If they fail to say the correct form they will skip their turn.
• If every square of a ship gets lost, that ship is sunk. 
• The players who can sink all the opponents' ship, will be the winners.

VITIS VINIFERA

Vines , in the form of cuttings are plantend in WINTER.
VINE CUTTINGS are called also SCIONS or SLIPS.

They are usullay grafted onto rootstocks and put into sand for one season. (BENCH-GRAFTING).


Some other vineyards are planted using cultivated rootstocks directly and grafted with the selected fruiting variety scions. (FIELD_ GRAFTING)  Watch the video below:

 What is a NURSERY?

HOW are plants propagated ?

Asexual propagation of plants refers to producing more plants by budding, grafting, or layering from existing plants.

Grafting

With the term grafting we mean some different techniques in which a section of a stem with leaf buds is inserted into the stock of a tree. 

It is used to reproduct other cultivars,  repair injured trees or for topworking an esthablish trees to one or more different cultivars. 

Budding 

A single bud is used as a SCION. 

Budding is the most commonly method used for fruit tree reproduction.

It is done in summer.

Layering

 

It is the technique in which a portion of an aerial stem grows roots while still attached to the parent plant.

Where did the wine first come from?

A legend says that an old Sumerian king who loves his crops of grapes,  wanted to hide it in a cask. Nobody could open it, not even his wives and children! He warned them saying it was a poison. 

One day, one of his wives who was suffering from depression, decided to commit suicide.She opened the cask and drank the poison. Actually, she drank what we call wine. So, she began laughing and her mood got better.
